CRUNCHY CACAO ALMOND GRANOLA

2.13.2018

Some say granola is a hipster thing, or something only young people consume. At The Kitchen Misses, we think differently. Whether you're a kid going to school, a grandma or grandpa enjoying fresh yoghurt in the morning, or a student in need of a healthy (though slightly addicting) snack, granola is perfectly fine to eat. Did we mention it's also incredibly easy to make and even more delicious when baked in your own oven? Let's get crunchy!

BAKING TIME: 10 minutes // SERVINGS: 12 // MEAL: BREAKFAST

INGREDIENTS

- 2 cups spelt flakes
- 2 cups oat flakes
- 4tsp cacao powder
- 8tbsp almonds, sliced into smaller pieces
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 cup puffed rice
- 6tsp sunflower seeds
- pinch of salt
- 8tbsp maple syrup

STEP-BY-STEP

1. Preheat your oven to 200°C or 400°F.
2. Combine all ingredients, except for the maple syrup, in a bowl and gently mix together until well combined.
3. Add in the maple syrup tablespoon by tablespoon and mix again.
4. Spread out the granola on a baking tray as thinly as possible and bake for 10 minutes until crispy and browned. Check regularly to make sure it doesn't burn!
5. Keep in a glass jar for up to a month.
